During the last Steering Committee meeting held at Houffalize in 2004 for the evaluation of bids for the selection next IRaP venue, the committee honored the Turkish proposal by selecting Antalya as the site for the organization of IRaP2006. Antalya is located in the southwest of Turkey overlooking a bay with its name. Antalya region is a place where sea, sun, history and nature constitute a perfect harmony. The first time visitors of Antalya are immediately struck by the Taurus Mountains rising to more than 3000 meters above the crystal clear turquoise waters of Mediterranean coastline. The region is extremely rich in ancient cities and historical sites covering prehistoric, Phrygian, Classical and Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine and Seljuk and Ottoman periods.
