Scope
IRaP symposia were initiated with the aim of i) bringing
together scientists from research centers, universities and
industries involved in radiation polymer science, ii)
providing a forum to facilitate the exchange of knowledge
and information in this interdisciplinary field and iii)
promoting the innovative industrial applications. The series
of IRaP symposia have therefore had the particular
characteristic of being exclusively dedicated to the effects
of ionizing radiation on polymers. Within the context of
IRaP symposia ionizing radiation comprises electromagnetic
and corpuscular radiations such as gamma rays, accelerated
electron beams, heavy ions, X-rays, deep uv and plasma.
Every two years radiation chemists, physicists, polymer
chemists and physicists, chemists, physicists, biologists,
nuclear and materials engineers working with gamma sources,
electron accelerators, X-ray generators, synchrotrons from
academia, research institutes and industry meet at the IRaP
symposium around the topic of
"ionizing radiation and
polymers". Despite very specific scope of the meeting every IRaP symposium attracts about 150 scientists from more than
20 countries all over the world giving it a truly
international character. Like every international meeting
the scientific programme of IRaP is composed of keynote
lectures, invited talks and contributed papers in the form
of oral or poster presentations. The established IRaP
tradition of organizing single sessions helps to bring all
the participants together in one room for fruitful
discussions, exchange of ideas and information in a very
stimulating and lively atmosphere.
